Cpl Terry L. Smith Gymnasium

CPL TERRY L. SMITH GYM IS OPEN
Cpl Terry L. Smith Gym is open for Active Duty Personnel ONLY.
100% ID Card check will be in effect.
Smith Gym will be open during a limited time per the following schedule:

Monday - Friday
5:30am - 7:30am
11:00am - 1:00pm
4:00pm - 6:00pm.

Starting March 6, Cpl Terry L. Smith Gym will be open on Saturdays & Sundays,
8:00am-10:00am and 12:00-2:00pm for Active Duty personnel only.

Smith Gym Locker Rooms are now open for Active Duty personnel only.


Face masks required.
Only 50 patrons will be allowed inside the facility at a time.
Availability will be on be on a first come first served basis.
We ask that all workouts do not exceed 1 HOUR.
Unit training reservations and recreational usage of the facility is prohibited.
Locker rooms and showers will be closed.
One unisex restroom will be available for use.
Group workouts are prohibited.
No Unit or Group PT permitted.



SMITH GYM GUEST USE FEE

Marine Corps Community Services Henderson Hall is charging guests a $5 daily use fee at the Cpl Terry L. Smith Gymnasium. Gym use will remain free to active duty and reserve military personnel, retired military personnel, military family members with valid Department of Defense identification card, permanent full-time Department of Defense employees, Marine Corps Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF)employees, and credentialed emergency services personnel servicing Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. Smith Gym Facilities include an Aerobics Room, Basketball/Volleyball Courts, Cardiovascular Area, Free Weight Workout Room, Stretching Area, Spin Room, Athletic Training Room, Locker Rooms and Showers, Racquetball Courts, Sauna, and Selectorized Equipment Area. Smith Gym Services include equipment and towel issue, and aerobic classes and our very popular Running Club.


This Facility has surveillance cameras in Exercise areas. Per MCO 1700.29

Age Restrictions and Youth Accessibility (MCO 1700.29)

Semper Fit promotes physical activity for individuals of all ages as part of a healthy lifestyle. Research has proven the benefits of exercise to youths including strength training with proper technique and strict supervision. While it is important for families to exercise together, these guidelines with age limitations are established to ensure a safe environment for all fitness center patrons. These guidelines have been developed with the safety of children in mind within the confines of a staffed fitness center.

Run reimbursement policy change

Beginning immediately, MCCS Henderson Hall Semper Fit will reimburse only the Marine Corps Marathon and only for Marines E5 and below.

Basketball Court Shoe Policy

NOTICE: Proper Athletic Shoes (non-marking soled shoes) must be worn on the Basketball Court.
Court Shoes must be carried into the court.
No Street Shoes, Combat Boots, or Shoes that have been worn outside are permitted.


Racquetball Court Shoe Policy

Fitness Center Attire

No headgear may be worn within the fitness facility with the exception of sweatbands (MCO 1700.29).

Varsity Sports offers individuals with highly developed skills the opportunities to compete in higher level competition beyond the Intramural Program and to compete with others capable of challenging their abilities. Varsity Teams will be formed based on fund availability. Active Duty military assigned to the National Capital Region are authorized to participate.

Varsity teams compete in the Washington Area Military Athletic Conference and local civilian and military tournaments and leagues. Varsity teams also compete in the Marine Corps East Coast Regionals which can lead to higher levels of competition for Marine athletes such as Armed Forces Championships, Olympics, national and international events
